Hydrangeas are a popular garden shrub know for their large flowers that come in a array of colors.
Sunlight - Hydrangeas can handle full to part sun. For the best flowering results 6+ hours of sun is ideal.
Water - Hydrangeas like to stay wet, don't let them dry out.
Temperature - Depending on the specific variety of Hydrangea, some Hydrangeas can handle temperatures down to -40 degrees.
Trimming
Paniculata Hydrangeas: Cut off spent blooms in late fall or leave until early spring and prune to shape.
Arborescens Hydrangeas: Cut all the way back leaving 4-6 inches of stem, these bloom on new wood.
Macrophylla Hydrangeas: Cut off spent blooms or you can leave them on through out the winter. You want to mulch these or stuff them with leaves for winter protection.
Uses - Depending on the variety of Hydrangea, they can range in sizes from as little as 3-5' tall and wide to as big as 10' tall and 8' wide !
Fun Fact - With certain Hydrangeas they require certain additives for flower colors.
Acidic - Blue flowers
Alkaline - Pink
